Where does your money go? WHAG Donations.

As a charity, we often attend events to either fundraise or put ourselves out there in the community. Recently, we have been to quite a few. We want to let you know where our donations come from and where they go.

Recent Events

We went to the launch of one of the Rochdale Borough Family Hubs, whilst the weather was very up and down. It was a brilliant way for us to interact with people in the area, allow them to question us and take some of our merchandise (leaflets, bag, keyrings) that all have our contact details on and means people who may not have known about us before are able to notice us.

We then also attended an event at the local Rochdale Fireground, which again, was another way for us to build brand awareness, and this was also a chance for us to do some fundraising for our charity as well.

A final event that was recently visited by us was the Feel Good Family Picnic in Falinge Park. This, again, was an event that allowed us to build brand awareness to both the public and some more local businesses. The turnout was brilliant, there were lots of people and it was very busy.

Donations

We’ve recently received a brilliant cash donation from a company called H Bell and Sons. H Bell and Sons donated a very appreciated £500 to us to start off our safety fundraising to improve the safety and security for our female homelessness service. We are always unexplainably grateful for the donations we receive as it will all benefit the people we support.

We’ve received a wonderful cash donation from Beech House School, which is just around the corner from us. Beech House came across us via social media, and their Year 9s had raised some money for a project they were doing and chose us as the charity to donate it to.

We receive regular donations from Greggs, one of our amazing volunteers going and collecting it twice a week, and they go to our Young Parents project and our Homeless Women project, both in Rochdale.

We attended a meeting with Rochdale Borough Council, where we presented a presentation for some items that we are always in need of in donations. Since our visit, we have received donations from Rochdale Borough Council of tinned food, toiletries and even some books and makeup to support the women in our Rochdale services.

Where your money goes

When you donate to our charity, you may wonder where your donation goes, whether that be cash donations, or items instead. All donations we receive are greatly appreciated and are spread throughout our projects and to all the people we support. Our Rochdale Borough Council donations, for example, are being used to make gift bags for the women we support, including essential items as well as some nice extras with the books and makeup.

We also get lots of baby related items donated, as we do support young parents and families and they get distributed to where they’re needed. Some go to Gabriel Court, our Young Parents project or Chester, our domestic abuse project while others are used to support the families and parents we support in dispersed properties.

We keep some donations like toiletries and other items we receive in bulk in Drake Street, our head office so that they can be used in an emergency and so we’ve always got some essentials on hand if needed.

The cash donated goes towards either buying items for projects that may be needed or go towards a gate being installed as an extra security measure in our women’s only project in Rochdale. There are various places your donations go, and they are something we, and the people they go to, are forever grateful for.
