Young parent service
WHAG offers supportive services and accommodation for women and young parents with babies who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness, and people of all genders, children, and some pets, who are fleeing domestic abuse.
Young parents service
1. Supported accommodation
Gabriel Court is a 24 hour Supported Accommodation Project and support service with 12 independent flats, for young parents’ (male and female) aged between 16-25. We support those who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, who are either pregnant or have a young baby under 12 months at referral. The maximum length of stay is up to 12 months. The support we offer at Gabriel Court can include:
- Parenting group programmes
- Domestic abuse/Healthy Relationship programmes in a group or 1:1 setting
- Children and young person specific interventions, including a Family Worker who can provide advice and sign posting for parenting support
- We can also assist with managing finances
- Referrals for Counselling
- Court support and legal remedies
- Move on into independent accommodation
- Education and training support
- Any other 1-1 support
2. Dispersed accommodation
Gabriel Court has 3 dispersed properties in the community in addition to the 12 flats at the 24 hour Project. These properties are independent self-contained accommodation, for young parents’ (male and female) aged between 16-25 and can include couples. We support those who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, who are either pregnant or have a young baby under 12 months at referral. The maximum length of stay is up to 12 months. The support we offer at dispersed accommodation can include:
- Parenting group programmes
- Domestic abuse/Healthy Relationship programmes in a group or 1:1 setting
- Children and young person specific interventions, including a Family Worker who can provide advice and sign posting for parenting support
- We can also assist with managing finances
- Referrals for Counselling
- Court support and legal remedies
- Move on into independent accommodation
- Education and training support
- Any other 1-1 support
3. Community Outreach Support
We provide Outreach Support in the community or individuals homes. The support we offer on outreach can include:
- Parenting group programmes
- Domestic abuse/Healthy Relationship programmes in a group or 1:1 setting
- Children and young person specific interventions, including a Family Worker (who can visit you in your home) and can provide advice and sign posting for parenting support.
- We can also assist with managing finances
- Referrals for Counselling
- Court support and legal remedies
- Managing your accommodation
- Education and training support
- Any other 1-1 support
How do I access this service?
You need to fill in a young parents service referral form and email it to gabrielcourt@whag.info.
You can fill in the form yourself or you can ask someone else to do it for you, such as your social worker, police, housing officer, IDVA, or health visitor.
