WHAG offers supportive services and accommodation for women and young parents with babies who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness, and people of all genders, children, and some pets, who are fleeing domestic abuse.
About Domestic Abuse
The government has a single definition of domestic abuse that us used across all government departments and by agencies such as the police and the National Health Service. It uses the term ‘domestic abuse’ rather than ‘domestic violence’ to make it clear that someone doesn’t have to have bruises or other visible injuries to have experienced an abusive relationship.
It also makes it clear that domestic abuse isn’t just about men abusing women. Men can also experience domestic abuse, and it can also happen in same sex relationships. Young people and teenagers are the most likely group to experience abusive relationships, but people of any age can be affected.
