Donations

As a small charity, it is donations from supporters that really help make a difference. Whether it is a donation of preloved crockery, or a cash contribution, it is always welcome for WHAG to better support our clients.

Donations can be:

• New items, preloved good or cash
• One-off or regular donations
• By an individual, an organisation or another charity

One-off donations

Donate goods

Donations of goods especially help WHAG clients and their children, who may have fled home with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. Items are put together as ‘starter packs’ when they move into the refuge or move into their own tenancies having been in WHAG accommodation. We also make up gift packages for Christmas and other festivals.

WHAG has its own ebay shop and, if agreed by the donor, donated items we cannot give directly to clients are sold to raise money for WHAG’s work.

WHAG is always happy to accept donated goods but would appreciate if they were:

• In good condition (preferably not dirty or stained)
• Safe to use and in good working order (electrical items need to be PAT tested)
• Hygienic (no opened toiletries or used underwear)
• In date (no expired food items)

Items we are always open to receiving include:

• Toiletries and sanitary products
• Nappies
• Household cleaning materials
• Kitchen equipment
• Furniture
• Clothes and accessories such as hats and scarves
• Toys
• Tickets for family friendly events
• Vouchers

Donate cash

Cash donations enable us to provide clients with items and services that we may not be prepared for. For example, paying a plumber to fix a broken boiler in a client’s property.

Furthermore, through Gift Aid, for every £1 you donate, HMRC (His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) will contribute an additional 25p to that donation.
