WHAG offers supportive services and accommodation for women and young parents with babies who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness, and people of all genders, children, and some pets, who are fleeing domestic abuse.

WHAG provides the Rochdale Safe Accommodation service, which offers safe accommodation, resettlement, and support.
Our Rochdale safe accommodation is furnished and decorated to a high-quality standard. We provide a safe and welcoming space where everyone is empowered to move forward, building on their own individual strengths to make choices for their own future.
During their time within the service, individuals will receive person centered specialist support from trained Domestic abuse workers. Together in collaboration they will agree SMART support plans, focusing on key goals and empowering targets throughout their journey. The safe accommodation will also offer communal areas that are fully accessible and will offer a variety of uses including group sessions, opportunities for quiet reflection, and peer to peer support.
The accommodation is made up of both dispersed and communal accommodation with self-contained units each one has a bedroom, bathroom, sitting room and a small kitchen/dining area.
WHAG staff are on hand 24 hours a day to provide both practical and emotional support. We deliver support flexibly and always work with the cohort of individuals and/or families to ensure there are a variety of group activities which are inclusive for all, including cookery, arts and crafts and relaxation sessions. We offer counselling to adults and play therapy for the children, within our services.
We offer several programmes of support including accredited Domestic abuse training programmes, accessible to those within safe accommodation and to members of the local community. Sessions include, but are not restricted to:
- Gateway program
- Art therapy
- Confidence building
- Positive relationships
- DA toolkit
We recognise the importance of holding celebration events, promoting inclusivity and education encompassing the different protected characteristics, such as cultural, LGBTQ, beliefs, disabilities, age and we will always look to learn from the people using the service to develop this offer.
