WHAG are delighted to be chosen by the Little Stanney WI as their Centenary Project to celebrate 100 years of the Women’s Institute (WI).

Jan Tomlinson, WI President and Joan Day, WI member first contacted WHAG earlier in the year to ask how they could best help all the families that stay Joyce House. We were pleased when they offered to fundraise for TVs with DVD players and a DVD library.

The units in the Joyce House are self-contained with women and families having their own living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. It is important to us that women feel at home as they can. Having a TV in their own space can help the families settle in to their new surroundings, reduce isolation and take their mind off what they are going through.

The WI kept us informed of their amazing fundraising efforts and we were overjoyed to hear they has raised enough money for six TVs with DVD players, wall brackets to mount the TVs and a large box of DVDs.

Kate Oakes, Service Manager was pleased to be invited to speak at the Little Stanney WI AGM on Tuesday 6th October 2015. It provided the perfect opportunity to thank the WI for their support, share the vital work of WHAG and formally receive the TVs.

WHAG would like to extend our thanks to the Little Stanney WI for choosing us for their Centenary project and to everyone involved for their fundraising and donations. We wish the WI all the best for the next 100 years and look forward to their continued support.
